She's Bad, But Not Fake Evil Twin Bad
Congresswoman Jean Schmidt (R-OH) is awful. You may remember her from Jack-Murtha-smearing-fame (btw, where'd he go?), calling the war hero a "coward" and saying he wasn't a true Marine for wanting out of Iraq (I guess by extension the majority of Americans are also cowards?). In 2006, she eked out her second consecutive win in a conservative district (Ohio's 2nd) that wouldn't have been close if she was at all liked in her district.
Anyway, so she's pretty unpleasant. But while blog-surfing a bit, I came across the blog of someone named Nate Noy, who ran in the Republican primary against Schmidt. He claims--in 100% seriousness--that Jean Schmidt has an evil twin who casts votes for her on the house floor. From Noy's blog:
Jean Schmidt was in Columbus, Ohio the entire day on September 7, 2006, hence she could NOT have been in DC casting votes. Therefore, [Schmidt's twin sister] Jennifer Black was on the House Floor that day.
Here's how we PROVE it: (1) We have footage of Jean in Columbus. (2) CSPAN has footage ofJennifer in Washington.
We are in the process of getting the CSPAN footage. What do you think happens to Jean and Jennifer now?
Jail time for both and expulsion from the House for Jean just for starters.
Yeah, ok. [Note, the previous clause should have been read with extreme sarcasm and possibly a heavy eye-roll.] My theory is that Noy thought he was watching CSPAN but actually was just watching NBC and caught Rachel Dratch's impersonation of Schmidt (pictured right) on Saturday Night Live.
Also, I like the "we are in the process of getting the CSPAN footage" line. Doesn't it seem like a general rule of thumb is that conspiracy theorists are always "in the process" of gathering evidence?
Sorry Nate Noy, whoever the hell you are, I need a little more evidence before I buy the evil twin theory.

I don't know how you found this gem of a story.
I like the layout, and the graphic by the way. Sleek and sexy, in a blog kind of way.

Thanks--I was going for "blog-y". Frequent commentor and blogstress Lauren McMahon designed it for me
